Chess Workshops

What Are Chess Workshops?

Participate in problem-solving contests using the latest technology, Play tournaments, blitz, bughouse and 4-player chess, learn how to improve your thinking from Max Dlugy who was the best junior chess player in the world from age 15-21, and become part of Chess Max Academy’s unique Online School training system for all levels!

Chess Max Academy will be open for Chess Workshops from 9-3:30 pm, with an added extended day option till 5 pm.

Workshop Schedule

  • 9.00am: drop off time
  • 9.15am – 10.15am: Chess Lecture
  • 10.15am – 10.30am: Snack Break
  • 10.30am – 11.30pm: Chess Puzzle Time / Chess Tournament
  • 11.30am – 12pm: Casual play
  • 12.00pm: Half Day Dismissal
  • 12.00pm – 12.45pm: Lunch Break
  • 12.45pm – 1.45pm: Chess Lecture
  • 1.45pm – 2.00pm: Snack Break
  • 2.00pm-3.00pm: Puzzle Buttle / Tournament Preparation
  • 3.00pm – 3.30pm: Casual Play
  • 3.30pm: Whole Day Dismissal
  • Late pick up 5pm Available

PRICING:

  • 9.00am – 12pm: Half Day $120/day, $550/week (no lunch)
  • 9.00 – 3.30pm: Whole Day $180/day, $825/week (lunch included)

Jan 15th - MLK Day Workshop

There are 3 basic principles a chess player must learn. First is to control the center of the board (d4, d5, e4 & e5). Second is to develop your minor pieces (knights and bishop toward the center of the board). Castle the king and develop basic mid game strategies.

The 6.5 hour program includes lectures, puzzle solving competitions, supervised tournament play, game analysis and much more!

It gives a basic insight on how a game played and understanding the underlying principles and control of the center squares. This workshop will also focus on the basic strategies of developing the game. The first 12 moves you make create the foundation of the game. In short this workshop will focus on different classic opening traps.
